American Dad! on TBS Means More Crass Language

American Dad cast member Rachael MacFarlane recently reminded us all of an important difference between the old FOX and new TBS editions of the show: the cable version can contain more uncensored language.

MacFarlane, the voice of Hayley Smith, pointed out the difference via her twitter account while responding to a fan’s question late Sunday night. “We get to say ‘shit’ on TV,” she replied.

On behalf of viewers everywhere, let me be the first to say: it’s about goddamn time.

Though many have lamented the cancellation of Seth MacFarlane’s Smith Family series on FOX (probably because the average person both despises and fears change) and wondered how many hand and/or blow jobs they’d need to give to keep it alive, the show’s cable resurrection in the fall will actually contain some positives, which are slowly being realized. So call off that circle jerk.

Sure, it won’t be a free-for-all, and the loosened restrictions will generally be limited to language only (sorry, no cartoon dicks or titties here) but the fact that the assholes at the FCC will keep their grubs off of more dialogue than normal, is still a good reason to rejoice.

And in case you’re wondering what words can and can’t be said, I’ll at least give you this: this news article contains eight terms that would be bleeped on FOX, but can air uncensored on TBS.
