English Dub Review: The Elusive Samurai “A War of Hide and Seek”

Overview

The Elusive Warriors make their way to Nakayama Manor in the northern extremities of Suwa. There, Toki/Tokiyuki meets a young boy named Fubuki. In a village where Ogasawara and his forces killed all the grown-ups, Fubuki took charge and continually looked after all the children who were left in the aftermath. The warriors join forces with Fubuki, who’s familiar with military strategies, and go on a mission to meet the enemy.

Our Take

The episode focuses on a strategic battle where the main characters cleverly lure their enemies into a trap. With precise planning and assistance from their allies, the team executes ambushes that give them an initial upper hand. The villain is quick to catch on, but the heroes continue to adapt, leading to a dramatic and tense showdown. The animation was well-crafted, particularly in blending different styles during the action scenes.

The tension builds as the main hero faces a powerful adversary in a one-on-one fight. Despite the odds, they rely on speed and strategy to survive, while their allies hold strong in the background. The episode balances action with strategy, creating a suspenseful setup for the upcoming battles.

Overall, the episode was delivered in spades when it came to intense action and solid character development. The pacing sets the stage for more exciting moments to come, while the visual quality remains impressive, despite a few minor inconsistencies. The ongoing rivalry and the stakes feel higher than ever as the story heads toward its climax.
