Confusion Surrounds Long-Term Future Of Prime Video’s Invincible ; Walking Dead Animated Series Also Not Happening Anytime Soon

Fresh off of a stellar second season of Invincible, confusion is surrounding the future of Prime Video’s best adult animated series. Earlier this week with the announcement of a game currently in production inspired by the series, it was leaked that the show’s fourth and fifth seasons had been ordered in addition to the third season that is in production and expected to premiere sooner rather than later. Our sources confirm that there has been progress on the development of the show’s latter seasons and it’s usually standard for series like this to have a number of scripts already finished ahead of time, but nothing has been publicly greenlit as of yet.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about any impending animated series inspired by The Walking DeadCreator Robert Kirkman (Invincible) recently stated in an interview that there’s likely no chance an animated series inspired by the comics would come to pass until AMC reverts the rights of the franchise back to its creator of which they are embroiled in an ongoing lawsuit with. With AMC constantly spinning off of the shows to no oblivion, it’s unlikely we will see those rights revert back to Kirkman anytime soon.

Invincible Synopsis:

Based on the groundbreaking comic book by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, the story revolves around 18-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age—except his father is (or was) the most powerful superhero on the planet. Still reeling from Nolan’s betrayal in Season One, Mark struggles to rebuild his life as he faces a host of new threats, all while battling his greatest fear – that he might become his father without even knowing it.
