English Dub Review: Suicide Squad Isekai Episode 6

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

The Squad face off against Thinker, Enchantress, and Killer Croc, members of the original squad that traveled to this world.

OUR TAKE

We enter the second half of the series with the proper introduction of the rest of the first squad. As hinted at previously, they’re Thinker, Enchantress, and Killer Croc, more characters you may remember from their appearances in the Suicide Squad movies. They handily beat the asses of Harley and the rest, setting them up as the main obstacles for the remainder of the show, though their dynamic between themselves isn’t much to write home about. Clearly Killer Croc is the King Shark parallel here, and Enchantress may have some dimension, though oddly enough, Thinker just kinda feels like Ratcatcher from a couple episodes ago, with the ability to possess people and be smug and superior. Also a final confirmation that the bombs in their heads are probably not going to be any sort of threat, even though they provide so many opportunities for tension if they actually bothered to use them. So it overall feels like we’re entering this second half with a lot less bite than it seemed like we had with the first. Maybe we can get that back by fleshing out these other squad members more but I just don’t know, more details to follow as it develops.

It also looks like we still have a chance to better get to know the characters who live in this fantasy world and while that could be interesting on paper, I really can’t say that I’d be all that excited to see it. I’m sure they put quite a lot of effort into these characters, but so far, none of them have made that much of an impression aside from Fione, who seems like she’ll have her weird resemblance to Harley play into things down the road. But we are also running out of time for that to happen, so if they could pay that off pretty soon, I’d appreciate that quite a lot. As for where this series will ultimately end up, it looks like Thinker is amassing an army and planning to return to the main world through the portal that got them there in the first place, meaning he’ll probably be going for Amanda Waller’s head and Harley and the rest will have to protect her. If the movies these are taking some influence from are any indication, it will likely end with some of them dead and the rest getting away to do more crimes. Not sure how I feel about Joker being out there for Harley but I’ll touch on that more if it comes up again.
