The battle with Rafeal concludes with new revelations about an oncoming threat. Later, Zagan and his makeshift family enjoy a fun day to themselves.

OUR TAKE

After taking an odd week off, the dub for How to Love Your Elf Bride concludes as it started, with a double episode release. That’s a big help for me, since I get more to talk about within the four hundred word minimum, though unlike those first two episodes, these two are pretty different from one another. The eleventh, penultimate episode wraps up the little arc going on with Yor and Raphael by clearing up the beef they have between each other. Raphael was previously alleged to have killed Yor’s father, a dragon named Ouroboros, but it seems that apparently was just a big misunderstanding. See, it turns out that he was standing over the dragons remains and eating it…because that’s what the dragon asked him to do before he died. Uh huh, a likely story, but it seems like that is a good enough explanation for everyone so that’s what we’re going with. It also turns out that all of this was actually part of the two of them getting ready for the arrival of demons, proper demons, who will easily take over the mortal realm if they get here while there’s still conflict between Holy Swords and Sorcerers. We don’t get a very good idea of what that’ll look like, but the group do battle something with demonic power, so…that’s something.

It’s not a terrible way to end a season exactly, which is good because it’s also NOT the end of the season. The other episode gets back to the more wholesome aspects of the story to show that Zagan has actually collected quite a few new friends in his new domestic life, including the newly reformed Raphael who is now his butler, and also cut off the hand of the priest I was sure was going to end up being an end boss demon, but okay whatever I guess. I don’t know if we’re going to get a second season of this, but it is apparently a pretty big deal that he’s got two of the seven Holy Swords under his own growing faction. And as a sign that Zagan has truly grown and improved as a person, I’d say does a pretty good job of that. He’s got a best friend, another friend who he is unaware has a crush on him, a butler, a daughter, and a hot elf girlfriend, as well as a sweet promotion in his field. Dude is certainly winning at life and I can’t deny it’s been a pretty fun ride seeing him get there. And now I get to turn back the clock and see how it happened all over again as we get ready for the Season Review coming next week! Perhaps rewatching it will give me a lesson on how to find my own hot elf girlfriend and beefy war scarred butler, but…who knows.
