Report: FOX’s “Bedrock” Has A ‘Solid Shot” At Pickup
Deadline is reporting that FOX’s animated sequel series to The Flintstones entitled Bedrock starring Elizabeth Banks has “a solid shot” at a pickup. All signs are pointing towards a positive here as FOX has had the show’s website launched for a few years now and has parked social channels on Instagram and Facebook. Moreover, the animated pilot presentation went down a year ago and with FOX’s Upfronts presentation happening in the next couple of weeks the media conglomerate could be looking to make a big splash with some big announcements.
All of FOX’s Animation Domination programming will have celebrated its season finale by May 19th and the network should have announcements about, at the very least, what of these series will premiere new seasons come Fall 2024 if not the actual premiere dates. The Simpsons, Family Guy, Krapopolis, The Great North, Grimsburg and Bob’s Burgers are all in various levels of production for new seasons and that doesn’t include Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros. which is slated to premiere later this year as well. It should also be worth noting that WWE Smackdown will be leaving FOX in October of 2024 so now the network has to account for two-hours of programming a week that it has to make up for on top of the fact that Family Guy had moved to Wednesday Night Premieres earlier this year. Still unknown, the future status of FOX’s Housebroken which, as of now, hasn’t been renewed by FOX but does very well in both the ratings and on Hulu.
Short of getting Roiland back, which I'm sure isn't going to happen, I don't even think they could get much better than the new voices from the previous season. And the ratings for season 7 weren't much lower on average than for season 6; it was pretty much just a normal season-to-season drop that most likely would have happened regardless.
I mean, look at the actual averages:
Season 1 - 1.57 million viewers Season 2 - 1.97 million viewers Season 3 - 2.33 million viewers Season 4 - 1.52 million viewers Season 5 - 0.96 million viewers Season 6 - 0.56 million viewers Season 7 - 0.42 million viewers
Ever since season 3, it had been having steep drops even with Roiland still involved; the season 6 to 7 drop is actually the smallest-percentage drop it's had since it started dropping, and if anything it's possible that changing the voice actors actually *boosted* interest a bit and prevented it from dropping even more.
