English Dub Season Review: The Daily Life of the Immortal King Season Four

Overview:

Fourth season of The Daily Life of the Immortal King in which Wang Ling gets into your typical hijinks. But has he finally met his match? Probably not.

Our Take:

When the only negative thing I can manage to say about a series is how short the episodes are then that’s a good sign. It’s weird because they aren’t significantly shorter than your typical anime series but when you have as much fun watching this show as I do then eighteen minutes can fly by.

The animation and comedy are standouts for this series and I’m pleased to inform you that hasn’t changed for this fourth season. I make this comparison often but this is basically the same type of show as One Punch Man where nobody knows that the most unassuming character is the strongest. The main difference is that Saitama from OPM just doesn’t care enough to let people know how strong he is whereas Wang Ling is actively trying to hide his strength. There a few characters that have figured it out by now and I think that adds to the fun of it.

My only complaint from the story is slow the romantic progression between Wang and Sun has been. After the way season two ended I would have sworn that we would have got further but it is a nice consolation that she is one of the people that knows the truth about Wang.

No season five announcement as of yet but with well this series has done I can only imagine that there will be eventually. I’m happy to see donghua start to get more attention. If you only watched in English dub then you didn’t have any options before but more of them are getting dubbed recently. As it stands this is definitely one of the best.
