Our Take
For the season premiere, we find Kazuma and the gang back in Axel after their adventures in the Legend of Crimson movie. Kazuma shocks everyone by expressing his desire to join the Axis Church and become a monk, much to the amusement of his friends who are used to his antics. Despite his suave demeanor, Kazuma can’t resist throwing insults at Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness, but for Kazuma and Megumin, their recent adventure in her village was a memorable experience.
The episode also introduces a new and unusual character, called the “Tranquility Girl”, whose innocent appearance masks a darker truth. As Kazuma’s Enemy Detection goes off the charts, the girls are eager to help her, but Kazuma’s suspicions are proven right in a pretty damn funny scene. Meanwhile, Darkness’s aide Hagen arrives with urgent news from Princess Iris, leading the gang to accept an invitation to a dinner reception without hesitation…
Overall, despite changes in studio and animation style, Konosuba retains its charm and wit, promising an entertaining season ahead for fans of the series. Short of getting Roiland back, which I'm sure isn't going to happen, I don't even think they could get much better than the new voices from the previous season. And the ratings for season 7 weren't much lower on average than for season 6; it was pretty much just a normal season-to-season drop that most likely would have happened regardless.
I mean, look at the actual averages:

Ever since season 3, it had been having steep drops even with Roiland still involved; the season 6 to 7 drop is actually the smallest-percentage drop it's had since it started dropping, and if anything it's possible that changing the voice actors actually *boosted* interest a bit and prevented it from dropping even more.
