English Dub Review: The Witch and the Beast “Eloquence and Silence: Final Act”

Overview

The Executioners corner the helpless Falvell. With Ashaf out of commission, only Guideau can save the young witch. But what could persuade the gruff and violent Guideau to lend a helping hand?

Our Take

Further continuing the flashback, Ashaf and Guideau face a dire threat: an ambush by Executioners. Despite Ashaf’s injuries, Guideau presses him for the means to lift her curse. But Ashaf’s priority lies in protecting Falvell, especially as they witness the tragic demise of Falvell’s brother, Owent, at the hands of Sven and Craig. Despite the odds, Guideau eventually complies with Ashaf’s directive, buying time to rescue Falvell from the Executioners. Through a harrowing battle, Guideau discovers the key to breaking a witch’s curse: the witch’s kiss.

Guideau’s transformation into a beast grants Falvell a reprieve from her curse, empowering her to wield her vocative magic against their assailants. Yet, this respite is fleeting, as the curse’s true release lies with the originating witch, Angela Anne Huell. Moved by love and determination, Ashaf accompanies Guideau on a quest to locate Angela, delving into the Order’s inner sanctum and venturing into the enigmatic Tiered Worlds of the Fall, where new adventures await…

Overall, this was one hell of a way to leave us wanting more. While there wasn’t a true sense of finality, it felt like they built her character up with the recent episodes and background stories. It’s clear that Guideau needs to learn many things from Ashaf for the good of herself and others. And slowly, I’m sure she’ll become useful in other ways besides being the muscle. At the very least, it had a climatic finale, and we can only hope Season 2 becomes a thing to further find out the unraveling mysteries of what led to Guideau being cursed by Angela and why.
