English Dub Review Laid Back Camp “Where Should We Go Next?”

Overview

Rin thinks back to how her grandpa got her into camping. Meanwhile, the Outdoor Activities Club gets back together for the first time in a while. They build an alcohol stove and plan their next outing.

Our Take

No sooner than Season 2’s dub ends its run, Season 3’s dub Begins. And it’s evident that some significant changes have been made, particularly in terms of art style. Some characters appear older, which could be attributed to various factors, including the involvement of a new animation team. Nevertheless, the episode maintains the cozy atmosphere that the franchise is renowned for, and it’s heartwarming to see familiar faces back in action, along with glimpses of Rin’s camping experiences with her grandfather.

The latter half of the episode focuses on the characters crafting makeshift alcohol stoves at school, a process that proves to be surprisingly engaging. Nadeshiko’s struggles and determination to succeed add a touch of humor to the scene, eliciting a few laughs from viewers. Additionally, a post-credits scene reintroduces Ayano, a character briefly featured in Season 2, hinting at her potentially expanded role in future storylines and her dynamic with Rin.

Overall, while this was quite an unexpected turn of events to sort of continue reviewing this series, I don’t hate it. This episode felt like they wanted to get back into the swing of things, which is why it felt a little uneventful. With Studio 8bit now involved in animation, there’s hope that they’ll maintain the series’ momentum and deliver more memorable moments in the episodes to come…
